Visiting the Grotto

I took the girls to the garden centre to visit with Santa today, Emily was bursting with excitement but Hannah was not impressed at all, she was keeping her eye on the shifty man and pouting the whole time haha, was a little bit embarrassing but im glad she is dubious of strange men even when they are dressed as Santa and give you gifts!

We had a lovely day today, snapped up heaps of bargains, Emily spotted most of them!

We finished the day off with a hot dog at the food caravan and the girls sat in Nans new dog bed reading the new books they had bought hehe

My Little One Armed Bandit

Hannah has coped amazingly well this past 2 weeks with her pot on.  She was so brave at the hospital getting her x-rays done and lukily all seems to be healing well so they put her a pink pot on for 3 weeks.  She has occationally complained that the pot is heavy but other than that she has been a little star.  She is managing to do pretty much everything but it has also taught her it is ok to ask for help sometimes which is good as she is learning not to be so independant which was becoming a bit of an issue.

What amazes me most is she has never asked me to take it off, not that i could but i imagined her to be nagging me to make it go away.  She happily wears her sling, infact the only thing she is unhappy about it not being able to go in the bath with her big sister.  I have been having to give her a good wash down and wash her hair over the kitchen sink. I cant wait till next monday to have it taken off and get back to normal, im not however looking forward to taking her for it off, im dreading it!

Its a sad day *pout*

Emily has taken two giant leaps today...

1. She has decided that she wants ALL her drinks in a big girl cup in future.
2. She has realised after all these years its not Vail Narnish but Nail Varnish

I did a little sad smile to myself as the penny dropped and she said it correctly for the first time. Its the only little mis-word iv never picked her up on because it made me smile so much and it didnt do any harm to leave it alone althought iv always called it by its real name she just always liked to call it Vail Narnish.... this is a sad day...

Nightmare!!!

The sun broke out today and we managed to get up to about 10 degree's, it was lovely but fresh out, the birds was having a little sing song and the morning had been and gone doing the supermarket run for "back to school" tomorrow so i decided to put the enclosure back on the trampoline and let the girls have half hour of fun.

Lia came this weekend so after i put the enclosure on (which took nearly 45mins!) i set a couple of garden chairs up in the entrance of the garage made us a cup of tea and helped the girls up and zipped them in.

All was going great, sat down took a sip of my tea just as i looked up Hannah fell sideways and landed flat on top of her left arm and burst out crying!!

I got her straight off, Emily looked very concerned as like me she knows Hannah doesnt normally cry like that, she was seriously upset, big fat tears and snot everywhere.

I had a good look at her wrist, checked her fingers were moving, all fine but when i tried to raise her arm a little she got very defensive and said it was hurting.  I sat her on Lias knee while i went to get a dummy and teddy to try and cheer her up and when i got back i held teddy up a little bit to see if she would reach up for him.  She raised her arm up about half way took ted and started cuddling him so i was fairly certain nothing was broken.

A little while after i put her on the setee and asked her if she wanted a cup of tea btu when she tried to hold her tea with both hands she couldnt move her left arm and started to cry again.  That was enough for me, time to go!

Dropped Emily in at Nanna's and me Dad and Hannah went up to A&E where she had 2 x-rays taken and they revealed she had indeed broken it just above the elbow!!

I burst out crying! Kicking myself for putting the silly trampoline up, started blaming myself, just feel awful, my poor baby.

She was as unruely as expected at the hospital, she was very tired by this point and didnt want anyone to touch it.  The nurses put a half cast on while i tried to hold her legs still to stop her kicking the nurse.  Im glad they were quick she is really really strong!

She has to go back tomorrow for a proper cast on, im glad they fit her in so soon as this temporary one is really heavy and she wont let me put a sling on her.

What a day! She seems to have settled to bed really well, luckily she is used to sleeping on her right side since i turned her cot round a couple of months ago.

Emily is terribly worried about her little sister, i think she is going to be mothering her big time for the next few weeks.

Let It Snow!

We finally got some snow!!

Hannah was too little for the snow last year so iv been itching to get some so she can join in the fun.  I bought two sledges well in advance for this year after last years carry on.

We woke up this morning to a lovely covering of proper snow and best of all the sun was shining and it was a beautifull fresh but pleasant day.

We made a big snowman in the front garden together and then had a bite to eat before heading to the park to meet the gang.
Hannah was made up with the snow, she thought it was great fun and insisted on pulling her own sledge all the way to the hill
As you would expect there was not a moments hesitation or fear from Hannah she loved every minute of it and wouldnt give us a rest. Its a good job Auntie Shell and Auntie Rie arrived to take a few turns so me and Steve could catch our breaths lol
We was at the park a good hour before we started to get damp and cold. It was glorious standing their in the warm sunshine and looking out over the crisp white park.
With a little help from Daddy Emily has finally learned how to have a proper snowball fight which she loved. Last year she was running up to us and placing the snow on us hehe

Princess Bedroom..

Well its been a long time coming but i have finally given Emily a bedroom to be proud of!
She has spent the last 4 years in a magnolia bedroom with wall stickers dotted about to try and make it a little more girly but after snapping up a bargain at the carpet shop and a gorgeous pink carpet it just had to be done!
I painted her walls pink, bought her a new duvet cover, some gorgeous blossom wall stickers and a new lampshade and Emily loves it!
(I snook in to take these pictures while she was in bed asleep hehe)

Emily doesnt feel like she has done much this weekend so working on the indoor paddling pool concept i decided to bring the sandpit indoors hehe

I love these little girls so much

I dont care if my house is all mismatched and i have the odd stain on the carpet and hand prints on the walls.  I will save up for nice new things when my girls are grown up, things arnt important to me, memories are priceless!

Fersificate!

Today when i dropped Emily at school Mrs Dainton asked me if i could try and make it to mentions assembly at 3pm to see Emily.  I had never heard of it before but apparently every Friday afternoon the children hold an assembly and any children who have earned a certificate during the week are presented with it in front of the entire school who then give them a big round of applause and parents are welcome to attend.

So me and Nanna went up at 3pm and sat at the back and watched the children file in.  Emily had no idea we was at the back of the room.  The kids all sing "walking on sunshine" together which is just adorable and Emily was called to the front with some other children out of her class.

Mr Waft presented Emily with her Certificate for working so hard and settling in so well with the other children it is as if she has been there since September.  She stood there beaming as Mr Waft asked the other children "shall we keep her?" and the children all shouted "Yes!" he then asked Emily if she would like to stay and she laughed and nodded so he asked her if she wanted to sleep there and all the kids started laughing as she shook her head and giggled.  As she was taking her seat again she noticed us as the back and gave us a beaming smile and waved.

It was just so lovely to see the difference in her at this school.  She was so relaxed and happy and comfortable which made me so happy i moved her schools!

Emilys 5th Birthday

This year Emilys birthday fell on a Wednesday so the poor little love had to get up and go to school.  We made an early start so she could open a few presents before she had to be whisked off to school and when she got home we did the rest of her presents and just had a few sandwiches and the usual visitors and booked a real party for her on the Saturday.
I booked an inflatable assault course at Lightwaves Leisure Centre and to be honest i wasnt expecting it to be up to much, maybe a small bouncy castle with a slide attached or something so imagine our delight when we arrived to set up and saw the caretaker inflating this beauty!!
It took over half of the sports hall and was amazing fun!  I was so pleased that all Emilys friends turned up that had been invited.  There was a good mix of kids from The Mount and Kirkhamgate and Alisha and Rhianna came too.  Everyone got on famously, the mums were kicking their shoes off and joining in, as were the big lads who also helped out the little ones if they got stuck.
Emily had an amazing time.  Everyone commented on what a great idea it was and by the time the kids had an hour on it they were worn out and ready for refreshments.
Andrea made a beautiful cake which was huge and more than enough to go round the horde of kids.  Mum, Marie, Shell, Auntie Sylvia, Andrea and Celia all mucked in and helped to set out the buffett while i entertained everyone in the sports hall.  We had provided enough food for all the parents to eat and taken tea and coffee makings whcih went down a storm.
Everyone had something to eat and there was just a good amount left over to know that everyone was full. It was a perfect day from start to finish, i couldnt have pulled it off without my amazing family!

A great triumph!

Happy New Year!

This year we had a bit of a more laid back party.  Emily and Hannah love getting dressed up and having a dance and took over the living room dance floor.
Hannah was break dancing and forcing the grown ups to join in the fun.
They both really enjoyed themselves and managed to keep going till just before midnight. Emily was so tired bless her, she had just dropped off on the setee just before the bells and was woken up by all the commotion and managed to join in for old lang syne.

We played Bingo and Pictionary and had a quiz game. Emily helped Nan & Grandad with a few questions on cartoon characters and was really pleased to be helpful and she also joined in on the girls team for pictionary and played Bingo with the grown ups and managed to find most of her own numbers and kept up and she even won a prize for 2 lines!!
After we sang the new year in we went to join the neighbours out on the street for the customary hugs kisses and to watch the fireworks go up.  I had bought the kids some fire snaps to throw on the paths and walls which kept them all happy, even the big kids.
Happy New Year!!
