Flood!

So i just did the bedtime routine and read books brushed teeth tucked in, just got downstairs made a cuppa got settled on the setee and i hear this odd noise like tip tapping ... i paused the TV to listen then realise there is a waterfall running down the stairs!
EEEEEEK!
Me and Steve both raced upstairs to find the plug in the sink and the sink overflowing with the tap full on!
Water everywhere!

Emily woke up scared at all the commotion so i had to go re-asure her everything was ok bless her.  The stupid tap! its been playing up for a while managing to work its way back on even when turned fully off but im guessing a certain little 4yr old must have been playing with the plug hehe

Mega Mind

Emily asks me some very arkward questions sometimes and i really have to put my brain in gear before i answer. She was asking me the other day how babies get out of mummys tummys... I didnt want to lie to her so i told her that they come out of your front bum... i waited for her horrified reaction "Wow mum thats clever how does that happen?" so i explained that girls/ladies are magic and it just stretches to make room for the baby to come out. She went back to colouring in like the matter was no big deal at all hehe.

Sometimes she catches me off guard by asking me things like "mum what does sarcastic mean?" its not something i had considered a difficult thing to explain till she asked me. I explained that if she was running around screaming at the top of her voice and i said "Could you be any louder!" i wouldnt actually be asking her to be louder, i would be being sarcastic Or if she slammed a door and i said "Is it shut?" i already know its shut i was being sarcastic because there was no ned to slam it.

She gave it some thought and responded "Like when you gave me ice-cream and i forgot to say thank you and you said "your welcome" thats sarcastic isnt it mummy?"

My little girl is so super clever and i love her to bits and pieces!

Oakwell Hall

My good friend Helen at work told me a few weeks ago about Oakwell Hall and said how James loves it there so we decided to go check it out for ourselves and what a pleasant suprise we got!
There is fantastic nature trails that go under trees over little bridges and a beck and rolling hillsides and massive grassed areas for pic-nics etc.  We followed the signposts to the play area and was amazed when we arrived!
Everything was free, there is a big fenced off area with 2 climbing frames with slides, one perfect Hannah size the other perfect Emily size!  Lots of swings, a little hut near by to buy sulvineers and cups of tea too.  Outside the fenced area is more activites like climbing logs, a bigger slide, a rope roundabout and build your own climbing frames in the trees!

A little while later we started exploring a little nature trail and Emily discovered a massive metal statue and then we came acrross the coolect dens! The frame work is permanent but the logs and twigs forming the roof had been done by some kids, just like the climbing trees there was loads of logs laying about on the floor, the girls loved it and we cant wait to go again!

Just before we left thegirls had an ice-cream from the van there and he put loads of sauce and sherbet and sprinkles on and it was only £1! Bargain!

Scootering!

On Emily's 2nd birthday for some reason i thought it would be a good idea to buy her a Fi Fi scooter.  She never really took to it and by the time she was interested in it her legs were too long for the length of the board and she ended up skimming her ankle bone on the back wheel all the time.
We decided to buy her a scooter with 2 wheels at the front instead of at the back to solve the problem but came accross one with 2 at the back but they are so close together they dont stick out and it looks just like a big kids scooter.  She was absolubtly made up with it and was straight on it riding up and down Nannas living room like a pro.
Soon as Hannah saw what Emily was up to she got all upset and was trying to wrestle the scooter off Em so i decided to hack saw the handle down on the fi fi scooter to make it iddy biddy and let her have a go.  She is usually rather short tempered when she is trying to master something and its not going to plan but she stook at it watching Emily and trying different positions and started slowly shuffling it up and down on the kitchen floor with a very smug satisfied expression hehe.

It was a beautifull day today so we decided to take the kids to the park with their scooters and it was like iv blinked and Hannah has suddenly grown, usually little ones her age and size are still toddling round on reins but oh no Hannah is a big kid now so she thinks, she was riding up and down with all the big kids, very proud of her little self!

Emily absolubtly loves having a big kid scooter like the other big kids, she is like the cat that got the cream and she loves it even more that Hannah can join in too.  As we walked back to the car Emily kept looking at me with a cheeky smile on her face, i know why it was, it was because she was walking beside her scooter like she has seen the teenagers do bless hehe

My lovely girls

Hannah has finally started making conversation and its coming on all of a sudden like i knew it would.  If you ask her a question now she babbles back at you like she really has something to say about it and is very vocal, her voice is almost exactly the same as Emily's too which gets confusing hehe
She says Yes, No, Garga (Grandad) Dog and Bubye and hums love you and she loves giving kisses and hugs whenever we leave somewhere, she purses her little lips up into a tight little pucker and give you a lovely kiss on the lips. She loves singing along to Old McDonald and How Much is That Doggy and when its her turn to bark she makes a funny little noisy grunt more like a pig heh
She is a cheeky rascal and loves to climb, she is very capable too! She is really sturdy on her feet and her balance it brilliant, she bombs about and i dont need to worry about her at all.  She ADORES her big sister, absolubtly idolises her and  wants to copy everything she does and often comes up to her just to stroke her face, pat her on the head and give her a kiss.
Emily and Hannah are so close and although Emily gets a little bit tired of Hannah at times she is totally unselfish with her things providing Hannah is careful and she loves giving Hannah her old toys which i always make sure is her decision, she never lets me down.

Emily loves to dress the same as Hannah, if Hannah has a dress on she will nag for one too. Emily hates wearing clothes in general but knikers and socks are by far her least favorite, any opportunity arises the socks are off and she usually takes her trips to the toilet as an opportunity to loose her knickers too hehe
Emily is such a beautifull person, so caring and loving and thoughfull, she is always telling me how much she loves me and what a good Mummy i am. She is always drawing me lovely pictures and making me cards.  We play the "i love you more than.." game which is mega sweet.

She has an amazing thirst for knowledge and is always asking me questions from "why are butterflys called butterflys?" to "How do babies get out of mummys tummys?"  I always make sure i answer her as honestly as possible and if i dont know the answer i will find it for her.  She teaches me tonnes of things i didnt even know like that farmers used to mark their sheep with coal to tell whos was whos and that sweeping brush bristles are coconut hair!

Suprise!

After work today me and Mum were trying to decide what to do with the day and Mum suggested taking the girls to Cheeky Mokeys as its a long time since we have been.  The last time we went Hannah was just comfortably walking holding onto something like a pram so now she is very steady on her feet it sounded like a good idea.

Emily was trying to ear wig in on the conversation and asked where we was going so i told her it was a suprise and she would have to wait and see.  Her face lit up and then she asked if she could take her socks off and wear just her shoes so i told her she needed her socks on because she might have to take her shoes off where we were going.

On the way there we decided as it is so close to de-tour to Wyndsors World of Shoes first and never even gave it a thought till Emily looked out of the window, visibly slouched and said "Oh Mum is THIS where you brought us for a suprise!?" *Pout*

I quickly answered "Yeah cool huh, we havnt been for ages i thought you would be pleased!", "Im not pleased" more sulks.
It was so funny  the poor kid thought we had brought her to a shoe shop and then i realised what i said before we left home probably added to it saying she needed her socks on incase she needed to take her shoes off heheheh!

She soon cheered up when we explained we were only joking and told her where we was really going :0)

May Day Gala 2011

Today was the May Day Gala at Thornes Park! Emily had so been looking forward to it and had plans to get her face painted, unfortunatly when we arrived it was heaving and the queues were crazy for the face painting so i tried to distract Emily to wait for the queses to go down.  She desperatly wanted to go on a bouncy castle for the first time which she has never fancied before so i let her go for it.  I could tell she wasnt too happy about it when the other kids started piling on, she has never much liked hustle and bustle  so she didnt stay on very long.

She got really upset about the fact she wanted to goon the bouncy castle but didntlike the kids banging into her so i asked her if she fancied going on a ride with me instead.  I took her on the Twister, i really expected her to hate it and be begging me to get the man to stop but she loved it! The faster it went the louder she squaled with joy!  Poor Ben was trying his best not to squash Emily, the ride went on for ages too his arms must have been killing!
The best part of the day both Emily and Hannah would agree was runnign about and dancing in the cordoned off area square in between the acts!

By the time we were heading home and the queses had dropped id spent all our money on rides on the twister and the mini waltzers so Emily ended up all upset again as she had her heart set on getting her face done, i felt really bad for her it was the main thign she had wanted out of the day and i really should have made more of an effort to push to the front of the queues :0(
