Ooooo that look sore!

We went for the dressing off today and despite my pleading with the nurse to go slow and gentle she still did a waxing strip removal of Emilys gauze taking off a load of scab while she did so which sent her into hysterics and hiding under a counter like a frightened rabbit refusing to let anyone including me near her :'( it was horrible seeing her so upset, made me sick to my stomach. Home now and she has managed to remove the rest carefully by herself. It's left a nasty scar but I guess we are lucky it's gone as well as it has. It could be 6 months before she has full or partial full use of her arm back.

As if things couldn't get worse lately poor Hannah has ended up with a badly infected thumb from a teeny tiny splinter that stuck under her thumb nail! 7 days penicillin an if it gets any redder we have to go to A & E

K-wires out finally bandage for two more weeks

Today Emily had to be put to sleep again for the metal rods taking out of her arm. She wasn't down too long after it took them all flaming day to come and get her, yet again had the trauma of being put to sleep poor thing! All is well and looking forward to getting all bandages off in two weeks time

Bridesmaids!

After a long two weeks of carrying that heavy cast and struggling to sleep and dress they changed her cast at the hospital for a neater one thank god! It was horrible holding her while they took the big one off. I got a close up view of the pins sticking out of her arm *shudder* she is allot more comfortable now and her worries about looking a monstrosity at her Auntie Shells wedding was put to rest. A clean over bandage and a little ribbon worked a treat!

Poor Emily :(

Emilys plaster cast is HUGE and so heavy and uncomfortable but it has to cover the pins and allow for swelling and she needs these pins in for 3-4 weeks :( it's going to be a long few weeks! She is in quite allot of pain and finding a comfortable sleeping position is virtually impossible. We have cancelled our holiday to Skegness because the poor mite won't be able to do anything or go on any rides :( we will get there this year though! Iv promised!!

My girl is so brave!

They came and took her down this morning after a very uncomfortable frustrating night where neither of us slept, leaving me and Nanna pacing the room waiting. Was awful taking her down to theatre, she was terrified of being put to sleep and the nurses trying to distract and trick her just made it worse :( my poor princess. I cried all the way to the smoke shelter where I met mum. The operation took a couple of hours and she had to have metal rods put through her arm!

Not again!!!!

Poor Emily!!!! We went to one of Hannahs school friends birthday parties today and Emily didn't really want to go till I talked her into it.. then I talked her into playing with Josh and Matilda.. and regretted it! Half way through the party I was helping Hannah get party food when someone called over and told me Emily was crying, when I got to her she was in a real state, holding her arm telling me it was broken! I could tell just by looking at her elbow it was more than broken but totally dislocated! Raced her to the hospital, allot of morphine and doctors poking and xrays have confirmed dislocation and fracture and it's really serious :'( she has to have an operation in the morning!!

Giddy up!

For Nanny's birthday we went to Pontefract races for the day! The weather was lovely so armed with a 'posh' pic-nic off we went. I was expecting the girls might get a bit bored but I was totally wrong. By the time we figured out if we won or not there was only 15mins to pick our next horses for the next race which the girls loved! We didn't win many but we did strike even just before we set off home. Was a lovely day out and can't wait to go again!
